Keep Little Rock Beautiful (KLRB) sponsors two community litter and trash clean-ups a year. The Great American City Wide Cleanup and Great Arkansas Citywide Clean Up events occur in the spring and fall, respectively. These popular events are coordinated with help from our affiliates, Keep Arkansas Beautiful and Keep America Beautiful.
In the fall of 2021, KLRB partnered with UA Little Rock for a Student Intern Research Project that looked at Little Rock’s Litter Problem in Fourche Creek and the Fourche Creek Wetlands.
Our newest initiative is the Fourche Creek Trash Booms. KLRB purchased floating trash booms installed in Benny Craig Park. These booms collect litter so it can efficiently be removed. This is a partnership project between KLRB, the Central Arkansas Master Naturalist, and Little Rock Parks and Recreation. You can get involved in two ways:
* Donate to help pay for the booms and their maintenance.
* Volunteer at the Boom Blasts held on the 2nd Saturday of each month.
Our Annual Litter Survey helps us evaluate the impact of volunteer clean up efforts and city services. We actively promote and help administer the city’s very popular Adopt-A-Street Program.
Placing cigarette litter receptacles in locations around the city is another successful program managed by KLRB and affiliates.
